Author’s note:

This was originally written in late 2006/early 2007 (I can’t remember the exact date, sadly)… In any case, I was only sixteen. It’s my one and only attempt at poetry. At 26, I’m not as proud of it as I used to be (the ending could do with some work), but as this website aims to serve as my online portfolio, and I’ve deleted the three other profiles where it has been previously been shared, I felt the need to post it.

I want to write.

I want to write.
I want to write something pretty, something lyrical.
I want to write something amazing.
Something that touches you, that makes you wonder what’s next.
I want to write something inspiring.
Something that flows, something that keeps on coming.
I want to write what I see.
I want to write what I feel.
I want to write what everyone else feels.
I want it to connect.
For you to feel that it’s written for you, and you alone.
I want you to read what I’ve wrote.
I want you to finish it, with a smile on your face
Or a tear in your eye
And think “Now, why couldn’t my life be like that?”
Because deep down, we all wish our lives could be storybooks.
