I have been studying a Cert IV in Professional Writing and Editing since October 2015. I was hoping to have it finished by October this year, but as time goes by—way too quickly—I think I may need the whole eighteen months allocated after all. Trying to find that elusive work life balance is near-impossible when you also add study to the mix. Where does it fit in between full-time work, gym, maintaining a clean house and a semblance of a social life? I can’t study in a messy house and I refuse to skip the gym, so usually it’s my friends that get the boot.
My friends understand though (I hope? Heh), and I don’t regret the course at all. There are times where I hate it, usually when I’ve been stuck on the same assignment for weeks. Otherwise I’m enjoying what I’m learning and have already put some of my newfound knowledge to good use.
I’m currently in study period three of my course and the next assignment is create your own blog. I do actually already have a blog on Medium, but I’ve been meaning to create a website where I can build a portfolio for a while now. I’ll likely continue to maintain both blogs for the time being as this one develops. The good thing about Medium is there is little to distract me from the actual task of writing; there’s very little to customise. Meanwhile on here I’ve already changed the layout about five times before my first post, and I can’t count how many times I’ve changed the order of the widgets or edited my About Me page.
In any case, I’m sure it will continue to grow and change as I continue to learn new things. Please feel free to take a look around and provide me feedback should you have any.
