Thank you to everyone who offered encouraging messages, emails and phone calls to Josh and I this past week. It is a very difficult loss. Yet, we have the incredible assurance that Jordan is now joyfully in the presence of the Lord. Completely healed. Today at Jordan’s homecoming celebration, it was incredible to learn how his life was a testimony to all those who knew him…and some who didn’t.
I wanted to share a very encouraging note someone left on Jordan’s CaringBridge site (a place for cancer and other critical illness patients to connect with family and friends). This is just a glimpse of the kind of impact Jordan had on people.
I never met Jordan — I saw him once when he came to the PHOC at GMH. My 14 year old daughter, Meredith, has high risk ALL (MLL) — we were waiting. I will never forget that day. Without speaking a word, his spirit bore witness of His heavenly Father. My daughter noticed him too. We talked about it later. Jordan went back into the treatment area pretty quickly so our eyes never really met. I had hoped one day that we would meet. There was a sense of deep humility about him.
I picked up a newspaper in the waiting room today and saw his picture in the obituary. My heart ached. I knew immediately that he was the young man I had seen that day. I had to look him up on caringbridge. What I saw in the newspaper was true. It was him.
